Serpentine Vase – Print & Assembly Guide (Updated)

This serpentine-style vase features a dramatic curve, which requires support structures during printing to maintain its shape.

Printing Instructions

Supports (Required)

  • Support Type: Tree supports (recommended) or normal supports
  • Placement: Touching build plate (preferred) or everywhere if needed
  • Support Density: 10–15%
  • Support Overhang Angle: 50°–55%
  • Support Interface: Enabled (for cleaner removal)

👉 Tree supports work best here because they reduce scarring on the visible curved surface.

Recommended 3D Printing Settings

  • Layer Height: 0.16–0.2 mm
  • Wall Count: 3–4 walls
  • Infill: 10–15% (gyroid recommended)
  • Top/Bottom Layers: 4–6
  • Print Speed: 40–50 mm/s (slower = better stability)
  • Nozzle Temperature:
    • PLA: 200–210°C
    • PETG: 230–245°C
  • Bed Temperature:
    • PLA: 50–60°C
    • PETG: 70–80°C

Adhesion & Stability

  • Use a brim (8–12 mm) — your print is tall and can tip
  • Enable Z-hop (0.2–0.4 mm) to avoid nozzle collisions
  • Make sure belts and frame are tight to reduce wobble

Post-Processing

  1. Carefully remove supports (pliers + patience helps).
  2. Light sanding may be needed where supports touched.
  3. Add weight (sand, stones, metal pellets) into the base.
  4. Seal the base using super glue or epoxy.
